Race Analysis:1

An interesting opener fancied to fall to Hannington, who now switches to handicaps after comfortably winning a Nottingham maiden. That race wasn’t strong by any means, however Andrew Balding’s gelding possesses scope for further improvement, plus is far less exposed than anything else in this line up. The Beverley race in which Heska (IRE) opened his account at the tenth time of asking was weak and it remains to be seen if his confidence is intact having taken a nasty tumble on the home bend at Yarmouth 19 days ago. Allergic Reaction (IRE) has run three solid races in defeat since his Leicester success in May and should make his presence felt once again.
Selection: Hannington

Race Analysis:2

Judged by all the big-name trainers represented in this fascinating maiden the brand-new Tapeta surface has gone down extremely well. Broughtons Secret sets a pretty good standard given she was awarded a rating of 79 in response to her promising third of 13 when last seen in October, while Flawless Pinkhasn’t been disgraced on either of her three starts. Sir Michael Stoute brings Freemason, who is probably best left until handicaps after this having only finished a distant third at Newmarket on his belated return to action 12 days ago. Godolphin’s two entries are to be respected, but Holiday Magic (IRE) cut no ice on debut so the newcomer New Year’s Night (IRE) is probably the pick of their duo. However, it is to another first-time-out runner, Santa Teresa (IRE), that we turn to in the hope of success. William Haggas has his team in sublime form and his daughter of Cape Cross is bred to be at the very least useful.
Selection: Santa Teresa

Race Analysis:3

After string of poor performances which caused his handicap mark to fall 13lb Hazza The Jazza finally got back on track with a fair third of 7 at Ayr last time. He’s won round here before and if maintaining the revival could prove hard to beat with a decent draw in stall 2. Following a lay-off Squirrel Wood (IRE) is also getting back to form, twice running with credit at Lingfield of late. She shouldn’t be far away, nor can Very First Blade be left out of calculations after a couple of recent near misses, latterly when a three-quarter length second over course and distance.
Selection: Hazza The Jazza

Race Analysis:4

This is a wide-open and none can be discounted with confidence, nevertheless we put Piccadillo up as the tip on our sister Leicester site 6 days ago and after a tardy start the filly could never land a blow. However, she did show a willing attitude and it’s too soon to give up on her just yet given the strength of her earlier Windsor fourth, a race which has worked out well from a form perspective. Western Playboyhas been knocking on the door of late so cannot be left out of the equation, while Faraajh (IRE) has yet to run a bad race over 5 and 6 furlongs, thus should give another good account provided she stays this longer trip.
Selection: Piccadillo (each-way)

Race Analysis:5

Both Anonymous John (IRE) and Vegas Rebel (IRE) have numerous placed efforts between them, but each has spurned sufficient opportunities to make one look elsewhere for the winner and with those thoughts in mind Captain Revelation fits the bill. Tom Dascombe’s colt made huge improvement from first start to second when only beaten a short-head by a Brian Meehan-trained hot-pot at Southwell. The pair drew a country-mile clear of the third giving the form a gilt-edged look. Were it not for such a wide drawSolstalla might have got the vote after an eye-catching fifth on her Leicester debut. She’ll be winning before long and still has a big shout despite starting out from the coffin box in stall 12 of 12.
Selection: Captain Revelation

Race Analysis:6

Following her runaway Southwell success Dino Mite disappointed when tried back on turf at Nottingham, that was though a stronger race than this and the filly should appreciate now easing down to a class 4 handicap, plus the return to the all-weather. Recent 1m4f course winner Warrigal is the obvious threat, shaping that day as if this longer trip would be within his compass, but he did go up 6lb as a result of that hard-fought victory. Underwritten’s impressive recent form figures serve to illustrate his admirably consistent profile and for all this trip is a touch short of his best he should still be in the shake up.
Selection: Dino Mite (each-way)

Race Analysis:7

A typical tricky dash-for-the cash to end the card in which Sandsman’s Girl (IRE) gets a tentative each-way recommendation. She ran a stinker here over 7f last time, but has now dropped to a career-low mark of 48 and given she was third over course and distance in December off a 12lb higher rating represents a dangerously well-handicapped filly. Captain Scooby must have legs of steel given this is his 117th start. The ten-time winner is on a depressing losing streak of 42, however he keeps hitting the woodwork and will finally find the back of the net once again one of these days. Bubbly Bailey is normally thereabouts, that said one victory from 25 tries tells its own story.
Selection: Sandsman’s Girl (each-way)
